An agent won't run

CLI missing or not signed in: the app opens, but agents using that provider won't start, and the screen shows which agents can run. Install the CLI, sign in, and try again.
CLI too old: update it to the minimum version listed in Requirements or later. For example, Codex CLI needs 0.154.0 and Claude Code CLI needs 2.1.260.
protected won't start: Howse couldn't confirm the required protections. Check the CLI version, or switch to automatic.
Stuck at waiting_limit: the number of runs chained from one request hit the HOWSE_MAX_CHAIN_TURNS limit. The default is 0, which means no limit. Raise the limit and restart the app to continue.

Stop everything in a thread	Stop all (in the thread)	Stops runs, pending waits, and follow-up work in this thread. Other threads keep going.
Stop one task	Stop task (on the task)	Stops that task and any runs that came from it.
Retry a failed run	Retry in same session or Retry in new session	Creates one new run of the same task. A new session replaces only that task's session.
Clear a failure from the list	Dismiss	Removes it from the needs-attention list. Nothing is deleted.

Retrying won't restart a stopped task. To run it again, select the original message and send it as a new task.
Retrying doesn't undo earlier effects, such as file changes.
A run in termination_unknown is never rerun automatically. Make sure the process has actually exited, mark it as terminated, then retry.

👀 means the agent received it. 💬 means a run actually started working on it. Neither one means the agent understood it.
If it's unclear whether a message was delivered (after a dropped connection, for example), Howse doesn't resend it automatically. Instead, it marks the message as unconfirmed so the work doesn't run twice.

Running agents are stopped. Queued work and tasks waiting on a person or a teammate are kept.
On the next launch, Howse doesn't guess whether an interrupted run succeeded or was canceled.

Howse runs a local server inside the app and binds it only to 127.0.0.1.
