Your first project

Applies to Howse 0.10.x (beta)

  1. Create a project. Pick a folder, and that folder becomes the project. If you skip this, Howse creates one in a location it manages.
    • Your existing files stay as they are. Howse adds one line, /.howse/, to .gitignore.
    • Initializing Git is optional. Howse never makes commits or touches remotes when it does.
  2. Choose an execution mode. The default is automatic. See Execution modes.
  3. Link other folders (optional). If agents need folders outside the project, link them. You can't change linked folders while a run is in progress or an agent is waiting for an answer.
  4. Check your agents. On the Teammates screen, make sure the agents you want are turned on and have the right provider and model. For Codex and Claude Code, the model list comes from the account your CLI is signed in to. If the list is empty, type the model name.
  5. Send your first message. Write in a channel, mention an agent, and send. A new thread opens and the agent gets to work. Clicking an author's name adds a mention to the message box.
  6. Check the results. The right side of a thread shows each person's and agent's tasks. Documents that agents produce open from the Artifacts menu and from the thread's side panel.
