Where is my data stored?
On your computer, as files. Conversations and agent settings are in the app's data folder, and project records are in each project's .howse/ and context/ folders. Once a message is saved, it's never rewritten.
Does my data leave my computer?
Your projects, conversations, and records stay on your computer. Conversations and agent settings are in the app's data folder (~/Library/Application Support/Howse/data on macOS, %APPDATA%\Howse\data on Windows), and project records are in each project's .howse/ and context/ folders.
The Howse app doesn't send analytics or usage data. It connects to the internet only to check for updates and download them from the Howse repository on GitHub. Everything else goes to its own local server, which accepts connections only from your computer (127.0.0.1).
When an agent runs, the agent CLI you installed sends your request, and any project content the agent reads, to its model provider under that provider's terms. For example, see the privacy policies of OpenAI for Codex and Anthropic for Claude Code.
Can I use Howse without Whyve?
No. Whyve is built into the app and set up for every new project, so there's nothing extra to install.
Why do I see Korean in the English UI?
Agent names, roles, and instructions are yours to edit, and Howse shows them exactly as they're saved. If Howse's own text, such as a button label or an error message, shows up in Korean, please report it.
Does Howse run on Windows or Linux?
Howse runs on 64-bit Windows 10 and 11 as well as macOS. Linux isn't supported. The Windows version is a beta and isn't code-signed yet, so Windows may warn you about it, or block it if Smart App Control or a strict organization policy is on (see Install). Windows support is also new: we haven't yet repeated our live agent runs on it, and protected execution mode is macOS-only for now. The download section shows the build for the computer you're using, or tells you it isn't available yet.
Does Howse run on Intel Macs?
Yes. Intel Macs and Apple silicon Macs have separate builds. The download section offers the one for your Mac, or asks which chip your Mac has if the browser doesn't say.
What if two agents edit the same file at once?
Each task has its own agent session, but that doesn't stop two agents from editing the same project file at the same time.
Will an agent commit or push without asking?
Howse's rules don't allow agents to commit, push, or send anything off your computer unless you asked. However, automatic mode skips the CLI's permission prompts, so use protected if you need firmer limits.
